Daher Obtains IATF 16949 Certification, Upgrading China's Automotive Coatings Industry

multiple domestic automotive coatings and related materials companies have obtained this certification, covering various segments including automotive refinish coatings, OEM coatings, component coatings, and specialty protective coatings.

HZ Info, Daher Novel Materials (Qingyuan) Co., Ltd. has recently officially passed the audit of the International Automotive Task Force and been awarded the IATF 16949:2016 Automotive Quality Management System certification (Certificate No. CN26/00006321) by SGS. The certification scope covers the R&D and production of specialty protective coatings, with a validity period from August 21, 2026 to August 20, 2029. The acquisition of this certification marks that Daer New Materials' quality management level in the field of specialty protective coatings has reached the top global automotive industry standard, once again focusing industry attention on IATF 16949 — a certification known as the "entry permit" for the automotive supply chain.

IATF 16949 was formulated by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) and is a globally recognized quality management system standard for the automotive industry. It builds upon ISO 9001 with additional automotive-specific requirements, with the core objectives of defect prevention, reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain, and achieving continuous improvement.

According to incomplete statistics from HZ Info, to date, multiple domestic automotive coatings and related materials companies have obtained this certification, covering various segments including automotive refinish coatings, OEM coatings, component coatings, and specialty protective coatings.

Companies including Yatu High-Tech Materials Co., Ltd., Shanghai Kinlita Chemical Co., Ltd., Donglai Coatings Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Chongqing Huahui Paint Co., Ltd., Haolisen Coatings (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Jiangyin Rongxin Plastics & Chemicals Co., Ltd., Wuhan Twin Tigers Coatings Co., Ltd., Hunan Xiangjiang Kansai Paint Co., Ltd., Zhongshan Daoqum Chemical Group Co., Ltd., Qingyuan Strong Coatings Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd., Huiyang District Smeca Chemical Co., Ltd., Daer New Materials (Qingyuan) Co., Ltd., Dowill Coatings, and Sunvim Sunvim have all incorporated IATF 16949 into their quality management systems and successfully obtained certification.

Although domestic companies have successively obtained certification, in the mainstream passenger vehicle OEM coatings market, international coatings giants such as PPG, Surventis (formerly BASF), Axalta-AkzoNobel, and Nippon Paint still hold the vast majority of the share. The collective certification of Chinese brands is the first step in catching up, but from "having certification" to "having orders," there is still a long way to go.
