HZ Info, Nippon Paint and Beijing Mucheng Fireproof & Thermal Insulation Special Materials Co., Ltd. have officially established a joint venture, Nippon Paint-Mucheng (Beijing) Fire Protection Technology Co., Ltd., which was unveiled on September 17 at the Beijing Fengtai Innovation Center. The joint venture will exclusively distribute Mucheng’s steel structure fire-resistant coating products, covering China‘s civil construction and general industrial plant markets. The products will be sold under the dual-brand “Nippon Paint-Mucheng” model through Nippon Paint’s channels. The joint venture has also obtained exclusive distribution rights in multiple overseas countries and regions.
The global fire-resistant coatings market was valued at approximately USD 9.3 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 15.88 billion by 2034, with a CAGR of 6.13%. China‘s high-end petrochemical and energy fire-resistant coatings segment has long been dominated by international giants such as PPG, AkzoNobel, and Jotun, with a market size approaching RMB 10 billion.

Founded in 2010, Mucheng capitalized on the upgrade of the national standard GB-14907 in 2018 to open up the petrochemical market. In 2022, Fireal® 1709 passed UL 1709 certification, making Mucheng the fourth company worldwide and the first in Asia-Pacific to achieve this. In 2025, Fireal® 263/263WE passed UL 263, and Fireal® 601 passed UL 1479.

Dr. Cai Yongyue, Vice Chairman of Nippon Paint Investment Co., Ltd., said at the forum that in building a solutions platform, a wholly self-built approach is not the only path; leveraging the advantages of different market players and pursuing joint co-construction is an industry direction worth deepening. Nippon Paint has mature protective coating technologies, comprehensive technical validation, industrialization implementation, and market service systems, which complement Mucheng’s accumulated strengths in industrial protection technology and frontline engineering practice.
